Possibly our first guest to look back fondly on school meals… This week we’re joined by comedian and podcaster Maisie Adam for an Easter feast and a chat about her upcoming tour, Whatsherface. Fresh from appearing in the second series of Last One Laughing, Maisie tells Nick and Angela how the tour got its name and why life on the road is still the best part of the job. There’s no danger of slipping into the MPTF (More plate than food) group chat either, as Angela cooks a full Easter spread. One for the girlies, we begin with an Aperol spritz, before Angela serves a herb & spice roast leg of lamb with fresh greens and new potatoes. A slightly bolder twist on your traditional Easter flavours, and right up Maisie’s street given her love of all things smoky. The Waitrose wine experts pair it with a Grant Burge Barossa Ink Shiraz, though Maisie also gets a glass of her favourite Picpoul de Pinet… just don’t ask her to check it. Taking refuge at Dish for the day (fresh from her parents’ house and her mum’s shower fashion shows), Maisie proves she’s no stranger to the food world, thanks to her early career in a Mr Whippy van. We put her to the test with everything from ‘footy scran’ to food-to-plate ratios, while she defends her love of home comforts – including cheese on toast with HP sauce, a good pie, and a heartfelt tribute to Trevor, her school dinner legend.
