When researching these cases I follow the reporting and use the names/pronouns reflected in official federal and state records, news agencies and other channels so the case remains consistent with source documents. That isn't a reflection of my personal beliefs, and I'm sorry that my decision to use Jasper’s former pronouns has hurt some people. I thought this was the most logical and sensible approach for reporting on this case, but it was not meant with malice. I am not transphobic, and I don’t share those views.
